Living in West End

Edinburgh’s prestigious West End is within easy reach of the City Centre. There are convenient local shopping facilities at Haymarket, with a large Sainsburys at Blackhall, another at Murrayfield and a Waitrose at Comely Bank.

Excellent schools in the area include St George’s School for Girls, Stewart’s Melville, Mary Erskine College and Roseburn Primary School. There are numerous bus services into the City Centre and Haymarket Railway Station is within walking distance.

Recreational facilities include pleasant walks along the Water of Leith and Corstorphine Hill, Murrayfield Stadium and Edinburgh Zoo. The area also has access to the extensive and well maintained Douglas Gardens for a modest annual fee.

There are also two of Edinburgh’s most impressive churches nearby, St Mary’s Episcopal Cathedral with its three spires dominating the skyline, and the twin-domed Palmerston Place Church. There is good access via Corstorphine Road to the City Bypass, airport and motorway routes north and west.
