Living in Ratho

Ratho is a picturesque village lying to the north west of Edinburgh, offering the benefits of a peaceful rural location yet is still within easy reach of the city. Within the village itself are several shops providing for daily requirements. More extensive shopping can be found nearby in both Corstorphine and the Gyle Shopping Centre.

The village is also well placed for a variety of leisure and recreational pursuits. The Bridge Inn, a local gastro pub overlooking the Union Canal, is within walking distance, while the Edinburgh International Climbing Centre and golf courses at Ratho Park and the Dalmahoy Country Club are a short drive away. There is a primary school in the village and the village is located within the catchment area of Balerno High School.

A regular bus service operates from the village into the centre of Edinburgh, with Ingliston and Hermiston Park & Ride, as well as Curriehill Train Station providing further public transport options. The city bypass and M8/M9 motorway networks are also within easy reach. The village is therefore very conveniently located for those who are required, perhaps in connection with their job, to travel throughout the region.
