East Calder is located about a mile east of Mid Calder and a twenty minute drive from Edinburgh. The A71 bypasses the town for easy commuting together with good public transport. The nearest train station is located one mile away at Kirknewton. It also has easy access to Livingston, and Edinburgh and Glasgow via the M8.
There are good local amenities including two supermarkets, a post office, library, doctor and dentist surgeries, chemist, a variety of restaurants, and a sports centre.
East Calder has two primary schools and is in the catchment area for West Calder High School and St Margaret’s Academy.
