We pride ourselves on our local knowledge and with 7 offices around Edinburgh and the Lothians, our team all live and work in the area so know first hand what an area has to offer.

Having lived there for 12 years, our Property Manager Kim McIntosh, tells us all about living in Gorebridge.

“I originally bought my property in Gorebridge for the views – although it helps that McDougall McQueen has an office in the town too! Gorebridge was once a mining and gun powder production village but is now a commuter town to Edinburgh, and with the Borders rail link you can be in Edinburgh in around 25 minutes, or just as easily travel in the other direction to Tweedbank.

It is a great area to live in and has a lovely community feel to it, with four primary schools, a local football club (Arniston Rangers Community Club) for footballers of all ages, the Gorebridge Beacon (a multi purpose community building offering venue hire, a café and various other services), Gorebridge Community Cares – The Hive which run various projects such as cooking workshops, and homework/study clubs, and also a couple of churches, one which lends a part of their building to house the local Midlothian Foodbank, and various youth clubs.

The main street is a hive of activity with a dog grooming business, a doctors surgery, vet, dentist, garage, local travel agent – I even won a competition they ran last year for a 5 star cruise – and there are several new developments that bring people from all over to the town.

Gorebridge is also a popular place for visitors with beautiful walks to Vogrie Country Park, Crichton Castle, Borthwick Castle and Gore Glen which has a lovely waterfall, as well as various eating places – a favourite of mine has to be The Coronation Inn, as well as The Stobsmill Inn, a small local pub that provides beautiful food and live music.”
